In a word, smart ass. Okay that was two words, so sue me. No matter the situation, Rattrap always has something to say, and it can range from straight up pessimism to scathing sarcasm. Primus forbid he dislikes you, because he will make sure you know it, every second you try to say something, or do something, or breathe; especially if that bot is a no good Pred. He will find which buttons to push and will not abate to authority, or even if there’s a chance you’ll flatten him, however if there is a chance of being flattened, he will make sure there’s someone around who’s bigger or in charge that will stop you before it can get that far, even then that usually won’t stop him from making the remark.
He’s a hard person to like, but he does have those rare moments where he’s tolerable. While he has been known to get cold feet about missions every once in a while, (Really it’s not that he’s showing cowardice, he just doesn’t want to die.) he always has the backs of his comrades in a pinch. He’s also not exactly the most trusting, and if you cross him he will hold a grudge and find it hard to forgive, especially if you’d managed to gain some semblance of his respect.coughcoughdinobotcough
Backstory:
-SPOILERS-
Rattrap was one of the four crew members active on the Axalon when the call came through for them to intercept Megatron, a plan he was very much against from the start, considering they were not a vessel specifically prepped for combat. Regardless of his complaints, the Axalon and the Darkside did enough damage to one another that they went down, crashing on the planet below, leaving both ships incapable of any further flight.
At first Rattrap was against following any orders that really put him out into harms-way, flat out rejecting an order from Primal to save Cheetor even despite the leaders demand during a skirmish with the Predacons. It wouldn’t be the last time Rattrap would disobey an order either, and the two would butt-heads repeatedly over Primals’ orders and decisions. Especially the bit where boss monkey let a stinking no good saurian Predacon on the team, around the same time, who will most likely stab them all to death in their sleep…you know…just saying. Despite his dislike of Dinobot, the two sniping each other with harsh words more often than not, the two would later form their own special brand of rivalry and even a bit of begrudging respect for one another.
An incident, in which Primal went missing while investigating an alien probe, ended with Rattrap being appointed commander of the Maximals, and would be the first steps for Rattrap to learning just what Optimus had to deal with as their leader, even stating that he never wanted to play the role again. Afterwards he eventually would form a deep loyalty towards Optimus, accompanying him on several missions in the future, and even going along with a plan to “defect” from the Maximals and join up with the Predacons briefly in order to learn how they were bugging their comms.
The arguments between Dinobot and Rattrap would usually range from minor tiffs to all-out-brawls that would cause chaos among the ranks of the Maximals. One such argument incited by Rattrap caused Dinobot to try and impale him with his sword and instead impaled Sentinels command console while Rhinox was installing the friend or foe programming. The Maximals defense grid went haywire, and in one of his rare moments of nobility and bravery, Rattrap saw the problem as one he created and stayed behind fix it. Another led to Rhinox being infected with an Energon Discharge virus that would have shut down the bots functions eventually and the two were charged with finding Tarantulas to get the cure. Both of them squabbled the entire time, both of them getting the worst of it out of their systems. Even afterwards the two seemed to go right back to their flippant insults at one another. This would change later, after Dinobot defects from the Maximals, albeit briefly, to return the Golden Disk to Megatron. While happy at first to have Choppah Face back, he held a grudge that turned the usual flippant insults into straight up barbs that were aimed to cut deep. The two would be able to reconcile with each other later, during Dinobots final moments. The two shared one last insult with one another, Rattrap all the while gingerly holding his friends hand until he passed. He would be the first to stand and genuinely salute the fallen Maximals spark.
Without Dinobot around anymore, Rattrap would find a new foil in Silverbolt for the time, his snide remarks usually aimed towards the bird-dogs’ illicit relationship with a certain arachnid. Rattrap would never really cease the prodding despite how often Silverbolt would nearly slag him permanently, if it weren’t for Rhinox, or Optimus Primal intervening.
It wouldn’t be long after Dinobots death that the Maximals would soon learn that there was a chance that they would soon be going home, and everyone was excited about it. Their “rescuer” came in the form of Ravage, a Decepticon covert agent. Rattrap welcomed him the only way anyone should, with fear and distrust, which would soon be founded as, upon capturing Megatron, Ravage would turn on the Maximals. While assaulting the Axalon, Rattrap snuck onto Ravages ship and destroyed it along with the Decepticon. After the skirmish, the Maximals followed a fleeing Megatron. They would arrive on the scene just in time for Megatron to collapse the roof of the cave he’d escaped into. From there they had to dig.
What they discovered on the other side was the Ark, the original vessel that carried the Autobots to planet Earth, where they were currently residing in stasis. While they had been digging, Megatron had already broken into the ship, and the Maximals were faced with taking out the ships defenses as they opened fired on them. Rattrap managed to take out the turret firing at them, and they were almost able to make it inside before things took a dire turn for the worst, as time itself began to unravel around them...
Moral Standing: Neutral Good.
Dreams: Getting off the planet and back to Cybertron…ALIVE
